How to Clean a Grill?

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

  • Grill brush or scrubbing pad

  • Dish soap or degreaser

  • Baking soda and vinegar (for deep cleaning)

  • Warm water

  • Microfiber cloth or paper towels

Step 2: Preheat & Loosen Residue

  • Turn on the grill for 10-15 minutes to burn off excess grease and food particles.

  • Let it cool slightly before cleaning.

Step 3: Scrub the Grates

  • Use a grill brush to scrub the grates while they are still warm.

  • For deep cleaning, soak the grates in a mixture of warm water and dish soap for 30 minutes, then scrub with a sponge or brush.

Step 4: Clean the Burners & Interior

  • If you have a gas grill, turn off the gas and remove the burners. Wipe them down with a damp cloth.

  • Use a vacuum or damp cloth to remove ash and debris from the inside of the grill.

Step 5: Degrease the Exterior

  • Wipe down the outside of the grill with warm, soapy water or a vinegar solution.

  • Use a microfiber cloth to dry and polish stainless steel surfaces.

Step 6: Maintain Regularly

  • After each use: Brush the grates.

  • Monthly: Clean burners and deep clean grates.

  • Seasonally: Check for rust, deep clean the entire grill, and replace any damaged parts.
